Depth Psychology, Mindfulness & Meditation | Online Therapy in California, Florida & Connecticut

Finding the right therapist involves more than choosing a treatment approach. It also involves finding someone whose perspective, training, and understanding of the human experience align with your goals for healing, growth, self-understanding, and discovering greater meaning and purpose.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles, where I specialized in Spiritual and Depth Psychology. My education explored the deeper layers of human experience, including the relationship between the unconscious mind, personal meaning, spirituality, mindfulness, and psychological transformation.

In addition to my clinical training, I have pursued studies in contemplative traditions and the intersection of spirituality and healing. I studied Tibetan Buddhism in France, exploring its applications to the therapeutic process, and studied the connection between spirituality and medicine in São Paulo, Brazil.

My clinical perspective is shaped by an understanding of the many dimensions that influence our emotional lives — including our thoughts, relationships, values, beliefs, life experiences, spirituality, and sense of meaning.

I provide secure online therapy for adults located in California, Florida, and Connecticut.

What Is Depth Psychology?

Depth psychology is an approach to understanding human experience that explores the deeper aspects of the mind, including unconscious patterns, emotions, memories, beliefs, and experiences that may influence how we relate to ourselves and the world around us.

Rooted in the work of pioneers such as Carl Jung and other influential thinkers in psychology, depth psychology recognizes that healing involves more than reducing symptoms. It also involves developing greater self-awareness, understanding recurring patterns, exploring personal meaning, and creating a more authentic relationship with oneself.

Many people seek therapy not only because they are experiencing distress, but because they feel called toward deeper self-understanding, personal growth, or a greater sense of connection, meaning, and purpose. Depth-oriented work creates space to explore questions about identity, values, life direction, and what brings a deeper sense of fulfillment.

Unlike structured, protocol-driven approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), depth psychology is more exploratory in nature. Rather than focusing primarily on specific symptoms or targeted treatment goals, depth-oriented work creates space to explore the deeper patterns, experiences, emotions, and meanings that shape who we are.

Depth-oriented therapy may explore questions such as:

  • What patterns continue to repeat in my life?

  • How do past experiences shape the way I see myself and others?

  • What emotions or parts of myself have I learned to avoid?

  • What gives my life meaning and purpose?

  • How can I develop a deeper understanding of who I am?

Depth Psychology and Evidence-Based Therapy Approaches

My clinical work is informed by both depth-oriented perspectives and evidence-based psychotherapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

CBT, EMDR, and CPT are structured, research-supported approaches designed to address specific concerns and treatment goals. Depth psychology offers a different therapeutic pathway, providing space for exploration, reflection, and a deeper understanding of the personal meaning behind thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences.

Depending on your goals, needs, and preferences, we can explore which therapeutic approach may be the best fit for you. Some individuals benefit most from a structured, evidence-based treatment approach, while others are drawn to a more exploratory process focused on self-understanding, meaning, and personal growth.

My approach is individualized, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each person's unique experiences, values, and path toward healing.

Mindfulness and Meditation in Therapy

Mindfulness and meditation practices have been explored for centuries as ways of developing greater awareness, compassion, and emotional balance. In recent decades, research has increasingly examined the role of mindfulness-based practices in mental health and well-being, with studies supporting their effectiveness for concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and overall psychological well-being.

In therapy, mindfulness can support the ability to notice thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations with greater curiosity and less judgment. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings, mindfulness practices can help develop a different relationship with internal experiences by creating greater awareness, acceptance, and choice.

Mindfulness-based practices may help clients:

  • Develop greater awareness of thoughts and emotional patterns

  • Increase the ability to respond rather than react

  • Build self-compassion and acceptance

  • Improve emotional regulation

  • Strengthen a sense of presence and connection

My studies in contemplative traditions, including Tibetan Buddhism, have informed my understanding of mindfulness as a practice of awareness, compassion, and connection. When appropriate, mindfulness-based practices may be incorporated into therapy to support personal growth and emotional well-being.

Spirituality and the Therapeutic Process

For many people, spirituality is an important part of their identity and healing journey. Spirituality can involve a connection to personal values, meaning, compassion, nature, community, or a sense of something larger than oneself.

My studies exploring Tibetan Buddhism in France and the relationship between spirituality and medicine in São Paulo, Brazil, deepened my understanding of how spiritual perspectives can influence the therapeutic process.

Therapy provides a space to explore these questions in a way that honors each person's individual beliefs and experiences. Spirituality is not assumed or imposed; rather, it is explored when it is meaningful and relevant to the client.

A Holistic Approach to Healing

My goal is to provide therapy that honors both the science of psychology and the complexity of the human experience.

Some people seek therapy during times of distress, while others come because they feel a desire for greater self-awareness, personal growth, or a deeper understanding of their lives. Therapy can provide a space to explore both challenges and possibilities.

Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, trauma, life transitions, emotional patterns, personal growth, or a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can provide a space for reflection, healing, and transformation.

Through evidence-based psychotherapy, depth psychology, mindfulness, and compassionate exploration, we can work together to identify the approach that best supports your individual goals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Depth Psychology, Mindfulness & Meditation

How is depth psychology different from CBT, EMDR, or CPT?

CBT, EMDR, and CPT are structured, evidence-based therapies designed to address specific concerns and treatment goals. Depth psychology is more exploratory in nature and focuses on understanding deeper patterns, emotions, experiences, and meanings that shape your life.

Each approach offers a different pathway toward healing. During therapy, we can explore which approach best aligns with your needs, goals, and preferences.

Is depth psychology a form of therapy?

Depth psychology is a psychological perspective that can inform the therapeutic process. Rather than being a single treatment protocol, it offers a way of understanding human experience by exploring unconscious patterns, personal meaning, emotions, relationships, and the deeper aspects of psychological life.

Who may benefit from a depth-oriented approach?

Depth-oriented therapy may be helpful for individuals who are interested in exploring patterns in their lives, gaining greater self-understanding, working through life transitions, exploring identity and meaning, or developing a deeper connection with themselves.

Do you incorporate mindfulness and meditation into therapy?

Yes, when appropriate and aligned with your goals, mindfulness and meditation practices may be incorporated into therapy. These practices can support greater awareness, emotional regulation, self-compassion, and the ability to approach thoughts and emotions with curiosity and acceptance.

Can therapy help me explore meaning and purpose?

Yes. Many people come to therapy not only to reduce distress, but also to better understand themselves and explore what gives their lives meaning and purpose. Depth-oriented therapy provides space to reflect on your values, identity, relationships, life experiences, and the questions that shape your sense of direction and fulfillment.

Do you incorporate spirituality into therapy?

Spirituality may be explored in therapy when it is meaningful to you. My approach is grounded in respect for each person's individual beliefs and experiences. Spirituality is not assumed or imposed, but can be an important part of understanding your values, identity, and healing process.

Can depth psychology help with anxiety, trauma, or emotional distress?

Yes. While depth psychology is not a symptom-focused treatment protocol in the same way as CBT, EMDR, or CPT, exploring deeper patterns, emotions, and experiences can support healing and personal growth.

Depending on your needs and goals, a structured evidence-based approach or a more exploratory depth-oriented approach may be appropriate. During therapy, we can determine which path best supports your individual healing process.

Is this approach right for me?

A depth-oriented approach may be a good fit if you are seeking more than symptom relief and are interested in self-exploration, personal growth, meaning, and a deeper understanding of your experiences.

During an initial consultation, we can discuss your goals and determine whether this approach, or another evidence-based treatment approach, best supports your needs.

If you're looking for an online therapist in California, Florida, or Connecticut who brings together clinical training, depth psychology, mindfulness, and contemplative perspectives, I would be honored to support you on your journey.

Together, we can explore the experiences, patterns, and values that shape your life while creating meaningful opportunities for healing, growth, and transformation.
